Tuesday Tip of the Week!

Our Tuesday Tip of the Week segments have been a big hit! We’ve been adding tips and techniques that we use, and you folks have been sending some in as well. We have just 2 short weeks left until the youth turkey season, and we have some more tips to offer to help you get that youth his or her bird this season. This Tuesday, Scott Perra will be offering up a great tip for getting those gobblers that want to hang up, to come your way! You don’t want to miss it. And if you’re just starting to watch these tips, or maybe just want to go back and watch them all again, I have included links in this post so you can find them all in one easy to get place. Remember, every youth wishing to get out there turkey hunting WILL NEED to get a turkey hunting license, and NO, they DO NOT need to have taken the hunter safety course to do so. So get their license, get out there shooting, and watch our Tip of the Week segments to give yourself every advantage this season in filling those tags.

Talkin’ Turkey!

Tomorrow is Friday! Woo-hoo! That means another episode of Talkin’ Turkey with Gary Coburn, (owner of Coburn Game Calls), will be posted at 5pm. We’re putting together 2, yes 2, videos per week to help out those who are new to spring turkey hunting. We’re trying to give as many turkey hunting tips as possible on our “Tuesday Tip of the Week” segments, (posted every Tuesday morning at 6am), and going over those turkey calls with our Friday segments, “Talkin’ Turkey”. We want to hear from you guys too! Help us help out others by videoing yourself giving a tip and sending it in. We’ll be sending NHBacK40 decals to everyone who sends in a tip. We will also be choosing a couple of those entries to receive an embroidered NHBacK40 hat! If there is anything you’d like us to cover in these videos, or maybe make another video just to help out in some other way, just send us a message. We’d love to help. Follow us on Facebook and send us those tips over there in a message.

Hunt hard. Hunt safe. Have fun!

The Barred Owl Call & Turkey Locator Now Available!

One of our original calls from the 1980’s This call is beautifully handcrafted from Rock Maple with Black Walnut ends and a Black Walnut stem. A rawhide lanyard is included for easy accessibility to hang around your neck.

This loud call realistically replicates the eight note call of the Barred Owl; “Who cooks for you, who cooks for you all”. This call will make the most stubborn gobblers sound off giving away their location. Gobblers cannot resist answering this call.

If you are a bird enthusiast, this a great call to use in the early morning or at dusk to communicate and bring a barred owl in closer to you.

Both birdwatcher enthusiasts and turkey hunters alike, will get great pleasure in the authenticity of this owl call.

We take pride in the craftsmanship of all our turkey calls from production to assembly and tuning. These calls are made from the highest quality woods. These features make our calls unique from other turkey calls. Our calls are constructed and tuned by expert turkey hunters with over 100 years of combined turkey hunting experience.

Off to a great start!

On our second day out bear hunting, Kevin and I had set up on the ground in an area we had a bear on trail camera just before dark. It turned out to be a great place to set up as we had a bull moose shedding his velvet walk past us at 15 yards. Didn’t see the bear, but Kevin managed to get the camera rolling and capture some great footage. Here’s a teaser of him. Follow us here or on Facebook for more footage of this moose and other hunts!

2017 NH Turkey Brood Survey

Are you seeing turkeys and their young ones, also known as their brood? NH Fish and Game would like to hear about them. Pay attention to the number of adult hens, as well as the number, and size, of the poults (young turkeys), and fill out the survey. It is a brief survey looking for this information along with their location. Your observations help biologists assess this summer’s turkey productivity and survival. Now keep those eyes open, count them birds and fill out the survey!
